BERNINA’s patented Micro Thread Control, usually shortened to mtc , adjusts the amount of over-edge thread surrounding the cut fabric. Which needles does the BERNINA L 450 use?

Which thread can it use?
Standard all-purpose overlocking thread or polyester sewing thread can be used for general seams. Textured or decorative threads can also be used for selected techniques, but heavier speciality threads are generally intended for the loopers rather than the needles. Common questions about the BERNINA L 450
Is the BERNINA L 450 suitable for a beginner?
Yes, it can be a good first overlocker for someone prepared to learn conventional threading. The colour-coded paths, threading diagram, lower-looper aid and handwheel position indicator remove much of the guesswork. As with any overlocker, allow time to practise threading and test adjustments on fabric scraps.
Does the BERNINA L 450 have air threading?
No. The loopers are threaded manually. It has a lower-looper threader lever and clearly marked threading paths, but it does not use air to move thread through the loopers.
Does it sew coverstitch hems?
No. It produces overlock, flatlock, rolled-hem and related edge stitches, but it does not make a true coverstitch or chainstitch. A separate coverstitch machine or an overlocker/coverstitch combination model is required for that function.
Can the L 450 sew both knits and woven fabrics?
